Beginning on 26th April 2021, Jacqueline will begin delivering a series of short courses via Zoom, each course consisting of three lectures. For the first course, each lecture will take place on consecutive Monday early evenings, at 7pm UK time (GMT).

The first course will be entitled A Taste of Art: Madrid, and will focus on three principal galleries in Madrid - The lectures are 'live', via Zoom and each lecture lasts about 50 minutes, after which Jacqueline will answer questions you can type in to the Zoom system. after which I will answer questions you can type into the Zoom facility.

A Taste of Art: Madrid - Course of Three Lectures (see individual titles below)

We are all missing gallery trips when we can get up close and personal to works of art, but this is the next best thing, so join me on a tour of some of the great works in the three principal galleries in Madrid - the Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Reina Sofia. Course cost £30.

 

Lecture 1: ‘From Bosch to Sorolla; a Peek into The Prado, Madrid. 7pm, Monday 26th April, 2021

A collection fit for Kings. This lecture will explore paintings acquired by Spanish Kings. We will consider some of the great Italian and Dutch Masterpieces bought by the Kings, explore the world of Goya and end with the now popular artist, Sorolla. You will be taken on a tour of one of the greatest galleries in the world. Lecture cost £12.

Lecture 2: ‘From Delacroix to Kandinsky; the Colourful Thyssen Collection’. 7pm, Monday 3rd May, 2021

What better way to see this huge collection than to focus on 100 years of developments in colour which lead to Abstract Paintings? We will explore some of the great Impressionist works along the way, and delve into the twentieth century Avant Garde. Lecture cost £12.

 

 

Lecture 3: ‘Getting to Grips with Guernica; Picasso and his World at the Reina Sofia’. 7pm, Monday 10th May, 2021

In this lecture we will focus especially on one painting in detail; Guernica by Picasso. Next time you see this work you will be well prepared for its extraordinary impact. We will also explore other related paintings and sculptures in the fabulous Reina Sofia. Lecture cost £12.

When we receive notification of your payment, we will also receive details of the e-mail address associated with your PayPal account, and will send you an e-mail acknowledging receipt.

 

If you haven't used Zoom before, it's easy. The later e-mail we will send you, a day or so before the lecture is due to start, will include the Zoom link. On the date of the lecture you simply click on the link - approximately 15 minutes before the start time of 7pm UK time - and when Zoom opens you follow the on-screen instructions.
